Alan has been teaching my son guitar for three years now.  He started aged eight and is now eleven.  From the word ‘go’ Alan’s instruction has been excellent.  As well as being an extremely patient tutor and clear on the objectives from each lesson, he has really focused on my son as an individual.  Each lesson is tailored to fit his particular aptitudes and abilities at each progressive stage along the way.

The impact is obvious.  My son loves guitar lessons; he is motivated to practice; he appreciates different styles of playing; his competence and pleasure from playing continues to grow and grow.  Whatever level your son or daughter may be considering, I highly recommend Alan and wish you the same success as my son has achieved so far.

"I took guitar lessons from Alan about 15 years ago and I still use many of
the techniques I learned today. Good teacher and very flexible with musical
styles."

John Thomson

Having been a student for a number of years I have seen my playing improve in multiple different areas through Alan’s flexible teaching. He has a wealth of musical knowledge and is willing and able to work on many different styles. Alan is very easy to get along with providing both support and encouragement during lessons.

I can thoroughly recommend Alan as a guitar teacher and have recommended him already to family members, friends and colleagues at work all of whom have attended lessons with Alan for extended periods of time. Alan is generous with his time and prepares well ahead of time for lessons. His teaching style puts you at ease and is adept at modifying lessons to match the needs of the student. He also happens to be a great guy just for a chat on music of all styles.

"I've been a student of Alan's for around 5 years, and still learning lots. Great guy, excellent teacher with a brilliant technical range and teaching techniques. Would (and have!) thoroughly recommend to anybody!"

Scott Robson, East Kilbride
I have been attending lessons with Alan now for several years and I feel like I am still constantly learning every lesson. Having a one to one teacher is definitely the best way to learn, and Alan is the best one out there. He allows you to learn at your own pace but still gives you a helpful push to get better. He will help you learn any song you want while still giving little exercises to improve every aspect of your guitar playing, which helps keep the lessons interesting after attending for so long.
